K-State Baseball Get A 5-1 Win Over Michigan For Another Win On The Weekend
Kansas State and Michigan competed on the second day of the 2025 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. See how the Wildcats got its second win of the weekend.

Kansas State baseball gets another big win in this early part of the season, its second win of the weekend in the 2025 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series over Michigan, with a 5-1 victory.
Michigan scored the first run of the game in the first inning after a double from Jeter Ybarra, and from that point, it looked as if the Wolverines were ready to avenge their loss to TCU on Friday.

That would be until Kansas State answered quickly in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by Noah English to tie the game. Later in the inning, the Wildcats scored off a fielding error by Benny Casillas to give them the lead 2-1.
In the top of the fifth inning, with runners on the corners and no outs, it looked promising for the Wolverines to either tie or take the lead. However, freshman pitcher Donte Lewis came in, got the three outs without giving up a run, and retired 12 straight batters until he exited the game in the ninth inning.
Lewis's stellar play, along with the back-to-back home runs for Kansas State in the sixth inning (a two-run home run by Dee Kennedy and a solo shot by Seth Dardar), gave the Wildcats just what the team needed to collect their third win of the season.
Michigan will complete its last day of the second weekend at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series against No. 5 Arkansas on Sunday to avoid being swept.
On the other hand, Kansas State will seek to sweep the competition on Sunday when they play TCU in the final game of the weekend in an early Big 12 battle.

Kansas State Baseball Names to Know
Nick English
K-State’s top returning hitter from 2024 is catcher and outfielder Nick English. The in-state product made an impression in his freshman campaign, racking up 17 doubles in his 54 total hits. He drove in 37 and successfully stole base 11 times in 12 attempts.
English is a potential All-Big 12 talent and an important cornerstone for the K-State offense.
Dee Kennedy
Last season as a freshman at K-State’s former Big 12 counterpart Texas, Dee Kennedy hit four home runs in 134 at-bats and drove in 17 runs. Kennedy can play all three outfield positions – and did so in summer baseball at the California Collegiate League – as well as second base and short.
His versatility on defense should make Kennedy an asset to the Wildcats in 2025. If he is able to bat with more consistency, Kennedy’s a potential breakout star.
Maximus Martin
Maximus Martin was a top 100-ranked high school prospect in the 2022 graduating class, and Perfect Game’s 16th-ranked shortstop heading into Rutgers. He spent one season with the Scarlet Knights before playing the 2024 campaign at Georgia State, where he hit .297 and produced an on-base percentage of .430 for the Panthers.
Martin flashes a dependable glove at short, helping turn 18 double plays for GSU. His ability to get on base also makes him a high-potential lead-off hitter for K-State’s revamped batting order.
Keegan O’Connor
Catcher and outfielder Keegan O'Connor was absolutely dominant at Quinnipiac, earning 1st Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2023 and 2024.
O'Connor hit .325, slugged .557, homered 11 hits, and approached a 1.000 OPS in his 2024 with the Bobcats. In 2023, he knocked 13 homers and hit .342 while again floating right around 1.000 OPS. If O'Connor's big bat translates to the Big 12, K-State will have a new sensation to help propel it to the top of the conference.
Cole Wisenbaker
Cole Wisenbaker was excellent coming out of the K-State bullpen in 2024. In 22 appearances, he threw 33 ⅔ innings, maintaining a 2.67 ERA with 29 strikeouts.
The 6-foot-3 lefty finished with a 1.69 ERA and made a save during his three outings in the past summer’s Cape Cod League.

Michigan Baseball Names to Know
Kurt Barr
Third Team All-Big Ten honoree Kurt Barr returns as the likely Friday starter for the Wolverines' pitching staff in 2025. Barr finished with a team-leading 3.41 ERA in 89 ⅔ innings pitched, struck out 6,0 and limited opposing batters to a .224 average.
Along with being one of the Big Ten’s top returning starters, the 2025 season promises to be special for Barr because he’ll also be in a staff alongside his brother, Preston. The freshman Preston joins the Michigan lineup. Kurt told the Gross Pointe News last summer, “We played baseball with each other our whole lives, from Little League [on]...and have shared a lot of memories. At Michigan, hopefully,y we can just keep making more.”
Joonsung Park
South Korean import Joonsung Park shined at prep powerhouse IMG Academy before his arrival at Michigan. As a freshman in 2024, Park debuted midway through the campaign and showed plenty of promise with a double and RBI in his first start and a home run in his second start.
After appearing in 13 games total last season, Park’s role in 2025 will be an intriguing subplot of the early part in Michigan’s schedule. The College Baseball Showdown might be a potential breakout platform for the sophomore shortstop.
Will Rogers
Two-way player Will Rogers provided both a dependable presence in the pitching rotation, working 49 ⅓ innings in 2024, and behind the plate at catcher. The righty Rogers struck out 40 batters in 2024 against only 19 walks. He worked effectively both as a starter, with included nearly going the distance in a Big Ten Tournament win over Illinois, and out of the bullpen with a pair of saves.
At the dish, Rogers is Michigan’s second-leading returning batter in a variety of key metrics, including home runs with eight.
Mitch Voit
A 1st Team All-Big Ten selection in 2024, Mitch Voit is among the most versatile players in the nation in 2025. He is Michigan’s top returning hitter, having produced the team’s best batting average among returners (.292), slugging percentage (.572), OPS (.945), and the most home runs of Wolverines back in the fold with 14. His 46 RBI tied Stephen Hrustich for team-best.
In addition to his importance to Michigan’s offense, Voit is one of the club’s most-tested pitchers. He worked 62 ⅓ innings in 10 starts, striking out 41 and posting a 5.49 ERA.
Jeter Ybarra
Headlining a transfer class that On3.com ranks as the nation’s 10th-best is Jeter Ybarra. The talented designated hitter and utilityman comes to Ann Arbor by way of Michigan’s new Big Ten counterpart Washington, where Ybarra had two promising seasons in the Pac-12 Conference.
Ybarra homered six times in 2024 and drove in 39 runs for the Huskies. His rangy, 6-foot-4 frame could become a key weapon for Michigan at the plate if he continues to progress as a power hitter in 2025.
